Questions for care in Hartford

Ask about the visit. Then the whole bill.

Before agreeing to care, leave room for your own questions. Start with who you will see and what you will pay.

The conversation comes first

What happens in an online visit?

An online visit is one way to get care at a distance, called telehealth. The person who assesses and treats you is a health professional called a clinician.

As of September 28, 2026, clinicians treating Hartford patients online needed a Connecticut licence.

Will we talk live?

As of September 28, 2026, Connecticut allowed two ways to have a visit from a distance. You could talk back and forth live, or send health records or pictures for the clinician to review later.

Ask which kind of visit the service offers and whether you will speak with the clinician live.

Email, text messages and fax alone did not count as telehealth under that rule.

Ask how your own follow-up questions will reach the clinician.

Will we talk about my health?

Those Connecticut rules required access to your health history.

The clinician also had to share their licence number and a way to contact them.

At the first visit, the clinician also had to explain the limits of online care and get your agreement.

They had to ask about sending visit records to your regular doctor.

Bring your medicine and supplement list, your health concerns, and the question that matters most to you.

Make room for the money question

What does the headline price leave out?

Prices checked September 26, 2026 came from drug companies’ direct-sale offers for people paying without insurance. About $149 to $499 per month was the range for most of those weight-medicine offers.

The price depended on the product and the amount of medicine in each tablet or injection. Some prices were higher if a refill was late.

A discount for starting the medicine can end. Offers can also supply different amounts of medicine for what they call a “month.”

That range is for medicine, not a quote from a Hartford clinic. Ask for the exact product, amount supplied, and repeat price.

In prices checked September 26, 2026, five of six large national online weight services charged a monthly membership fee. At those five services, medicine cost extra.

This small check does not tell you what your service charges. Ask: “Is medicine included in your fee, or will I pay for it separately?”

Can insurance help?

Ask whether your plan pays for this medicine for your diagnosed condition, and what comes out of your pocket.

As of September 26, 2026, Medicare’s drug rules allowed possible payment for uses beyond weight loss, such as treating diabetes.

The plan still applied its rules about which medicines it covered and approval needed before payment. A prescription alone did not guarantee that the plan would pay.

Ask your drug plan whether it pays for your medicine for your health problem, and what approval you need.

Can I see the cost before care?

As of September 28, 2026, Connecticut required clinicians to tell you the cost before online care if you chose to pay all or part yourself.

Ask for that price in writing so you can check what it includes.

The same law banned facility fees for online care: a separate charge for using the place where care is given.

Use costs you have been quoted. Enter zero if a cost is included. Leave unknown costs blank.

Use the same month of care for each repeat cost. Blood tests or visits that repeat need their own question.
